The Last Dance 2024
Living can be hell.
Went in blind with my work colleague. Didn't expect it to floor me like this.
So poignant, so effective in its approach. In the beginning, I assumed it was gonna be a modern version of Departures, but the film offered so much more with each act. So layered in its writing - exploring various themes ranging from art vs commercial to generational wounds.
There were narrative threads reminiscing past films within it, but I admired how…

Thalapathi 1991
Honestly, I feel like Mani missed a key moment - Surya and Deva should have kissed fr. And they said RRR had better bromance? Smh.
Jokes aside, it's a must to revisit this on Thalaivar's day. Its a special piece - at least for me. Despite the flaws and the melodrama, it seems to always thug my heartstrings. And ofc, would never not be in awe of Santosh Sivan's cinematography. This shit deserves a 4k restoration.
Happy birthday Rajini sir. Always a fan, always will be.

Killers of the Flower Moon 2023
The way I burst out laughing when the IMAX hall started playing Leo instead of Killers of the Flower Moon LMAO.
I don't even know how to express how I feel about this film. Its just plain masterclass storytelling. Everything and everyone were amazing. One of Scorsese's most honest, if not THE most honest, work of his career.
The ending play was just sheer genius, beautifully encompassing the absurdity of this tragedy. Marty, you're a gem. What a twisted masterpiece.
P. S: Also not to forget the couple that was fuckin snogging non-stop during this film, why... and fuck you.

Leo 2023
Boldly stating that its inspired (could have just said "a remake without rights") by A History of Violence in the opening credits, this did the complete opposite of everything that made the original standout. Every element that Cronenberg restrains, Lokesh proceeds to fill in and stuff them down your throat.
There's moments here that I enjoyed and Vijay did his level best to carry the film, but as an overall, it still felt mid. Had potential, but never really went…
