Like lying down in a dirty pool waiting for an existential crisis to go away— meditative but not quite transcendental.
I love slow paced meditations on existence, so this film was preaching to the choir. Watching this again after years and years convincing myself that this was in fact Tarantino’s crowning achievement was a strange experience. The first half of the film was all fine and good. It was all mostly how I remembered it. Occasional moments played out slightly differently though. Just tiny things here and there that were slightly skewed, probably due to recollecting the social memory of this film rather than the actual film itself.

Much like Glazer’s last films, he works in the negative. He uses the ambient spaces between to illustrate and illuminate the indelible. In Birth, it’s love/truth. In Under the Skin, it’s human nature. Here he takes it to the limit and depicts the unrelenting horror of banal evil.
