It's bad, obviously. This is why I wait for them to stream. But sometimes you can laugh about things because they are not good. The Marvels has enough 'what in the world am I looking at' moments, like that part where it became a musical for a second. It's hilarious because that's what the MCU appears to be nowadays. And we have Kamala fangirling over Captain Marvel, which I think is the cringest thing this movie has to offer - probably one of the reasons why I disliked Ms. Marvel as well.
The fact that this is the shortest MCU movie really comes to light when you find out how incredibly thin the plot is, and how a complete (tonal) mess it is. It features one of the most forgettable - and poorly set up - villains in the entire universe, and there's so much that is put into the story - a big part of that being superhero tropes - but it's all rushed. Nothing makes an emotional impact, and nearly everything feels like it's a comedy, as in too much. Besides that, this film is unable to stand on its own, for it uses unnecessary connections to previous entries.
It's both saddening and laughable where the MCU is at this point in time, but that's no news for you all I guess. The Marvels is a cringeworthy, superficial, messy and laughable movie that is a perfect example of what is wrong with the MCU nowadays, GOTG 3 aside. This is not how we know the characters. This is not how we know Nick Fury. It also says a lot that an alien cat is one of the best characters in the entire movie.
This movie does motivate me to do an MCU rewatch some time though; really want to go back to the earlier ones.
