I don’t think i’ve ever watched a love story on screen that felt so honest while also feeling like a complete fantasy romance. I can’t express how deeply i feel for this movie it changed my life instantly, it could be the most beautiful depiction of instant fated love i’ve ever seen in film. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy delivered perfect, seemingly effortless performances, their characters did not feel like they were even being acted it felt as though a camera was following two real human beings as they connected with each other. Not many films can consist of two people walking and conversating for 100 minutes and have the groundbreaking effect that this film had, it was a perfect concept that was executed flawlessly, Richard Linklater is a genius. The dialogue was brilliant and extremely enjoyable to listen to, the opposing mindsets of the two main characters created a fun and interesting dynamic as they challenged each other constantly whilst also learning from each other in the small time they shared together, the conversation flowed so naturally as did all the events of their time together. The scenery and cinematography was gorgeous and extremely fitting for the beautiful story taking place and the short time span of the film was a great and fun idea aswell. I felt as though i knew these characters by the time the film was over and i love them both, Jesse reminded me of my younger myself to a certain extent with his predominantly pessimistic views and Céline reminded me so much of my girlfriend with her open minded outlook along with her strong belief in feminism and helping the world it was such a beautiful pair to watch, it hit so close to home. The ending, even though leaving with hope, broke me, as soon as the credits rolled i could not stop the flow of tears i was utterly heartbroken at the fact these two obvious soulmates had to part it just wasn’t fair but it was such a perfect film i loved it so much!!!!
