I’ve seen some people saying the original ‘Beetlejuice’ is better, but I just can’t agree. I had an absolute blast watching ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ today! Seeing it on the big screen was a lot of fun, and I thought it outshone the original in a lot of ways. Ortega, Ryder, Keaton, and O’Hara were all fantastic. Honestly, Keaton as Beetlejuice will never get old; he just ‘is’ that character! I loved how it kept the ghost story alive, along with the darker twists of the afterlife. Lydia’s return made me smile, and even with all her gothic vibes, she’s still as sweet and likeable as ever. Winona Ryder nailed it, and Keaton was just born for this role. No one else could do what he does with Beetlejuice.
The new villain they introduced was a great touch, and adding more layers to Beetlejuice’s backstory was genius. Monica Bellucci was spot-on as Dolores, and Ortega was a solid addition to the cast. I can’t wait to see more of her. The story itself kept me hooked from start to finish. You can tell Tim Burton didn’t just throw this together for a quick cash grab or lean on nostalgia. He really gave the world of Beetlejuice more depth, more characters, and more to love. Top class film. 4/5!
