Pretty much mana from heaven for folk horror affecianados-- or, indeed, anyone with even a passing interest in the horror genre generally. It's long but absolutely thorough, covering pretty much every aspect of the subgenre and convincingly linking the spikes in interest and revivals in folk horror to real-world anxieties and fears. All of the talking heads seemed knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, and I also really liked the fact that they didn't just limit to British folk horror but also dealt with similar horror movements around the world. I was familiar with some of the films mentioned, others were already on my radar, but there are a load of films mentioned which I had never heard of before and which I am absolutely hoping to check out soon (the fascinating 1970s British Play for Today dramas ROBIN REDBREAST, PENDA'S FEN, RED SHIFT and THE STONE TAPE foremost amongst them). Be prepared to increase your Letterboxd watchlist after watching this folks!
