78th A24 film I’ve seen…. And oh boy is this one for the books!
I’m a fucking MOVIE STAR.
After enjoying X, loving Pearl, MaXXXine has been on top of my most anticipated films for over a year now. An entirely different beast as the first two films in the trilogy, as expected, in this installment we get the best story of the three. This is a special film with special performances that needs to be seen!
While I still think Mia Goth’s performance in Pearl was my personal favorite, I think MaXXXine will become my new favorite of the films.
We get some incredibly charismatic and powerful performances from the cast - with Kevin Bacon’s portrayal of John the PI being the immediate standout. Elizabeth Debicki, Giancarlo Esposito, Bobby Cannavale, and even Halsey in her brief cameo are all brilliant with their own electric moments. Mia Goth as Ms. Maxine (Miller) Minx is as expected, brilliant, and continues to show that she will not accept a life she does not deserve.
Was able to see this at an advanced screening, and so happy with how this film turned out. I really hope this gets the audience it deserves and receives it’s praises.
