Yelling at the TV at the Iron Giant “No you can kill them! They’re combatants!”
About as good as it gets for what it is. Thinking of it like it’s a blacklisted screenwriters metaphor for peace with the Soviet Union is amusing although the Cold War context is obviously intentional. It does satirize xenophobia and bellicosity quite well. Harry Connick Jrs voice performance was soothing of course and there was a great peace of shit villain. Although since being vindicated, I wonder why he above all wants to kill the Iron Giant.
