    The deep French (Rohmerian) conversations of religion, relationships, love, and mathematics make for an amazing movie.

    What a Christmas Eve night to witness a man (Roman Catholic) and a woman (brunette intellectual) just talking intellectually, with a tense build-up to Christmas morning.

    Follow by the man's (Trintignant superb performance) two choices (blonde Catholic or brunette intellectual) and a bittersweet regret at the end.

    Nestor Almendros's cinematography is superb.

    What looks like a dismal setting in Ireland is alive with people with determined if offbeat men making the best of their lives with their idiosyncrasy. A real movie disguised as a low-budget indie.
