    Last Breath

    ★★★

It's simple yet incredibly powerful. Based on a true story, Last Breath wastes no time with unnecessary details, making every second count. It doesn’t rely on deep character backstories, yet it still manages to make us sympathize with them—that’s the magic of great storytelling, I suppose.

  • The Redemption of Sin

    The Redemption of Sin

Although predictable and not bringing anything truly new, I’m still impressed by how Anggi Noen tells the story here—slowly, yet with precision and detail. This is a significant leap from his previous film, 24 Hours with Gaspar, which was a big mess.

Mystery after mystery unfolds gradually, keeping the audience intrigued—a skill he has long mastered. The film is further elevated by the mesmerizing performances of Happy Salma and Putri Marino. Yes, it’s pretty decent.

    Dark Nuns

    ★★

It's very confusing due to its messy pacing and ultimately leads to nothing. It's a shame that top-notch technical aspects are not supported by a solid story. In the end, Dark Nuns only adds to the long list of forgettable exorcism films.

A typical crowd-pleaser that is too afraid to offer a shocking yet reasonable conclusion. Its two-hour runtime feels overly dragging and tedious. It's not a slow burn, more like a snooze fest.

    ★★★★½

It's not as perfect as Memories of Murder (2003) or Parasite (2019), but still, this is definitely another masterpiece from Bong Joon-ho.

I'm obsessed with how his wild imagination always turns into sharp satire without neglecting any other aspects—unique and fresh storytelling, peak acting (Robert Pattinson truly deserves a lot of appreciation here), stunning set and visuals, everything. Yes, I repeat, it's another Bong Joon-ho masterpiece.
