it's too long, lord & miller's wishywashiness shows in some sequence, probably this would've been better served as a 7 part miniseries. but i love everything it's doing and i am so excited to see what the third film cooks up.
also if you can't see that gwen stacy is a trans woman then you're literally blind

what if the subtext of I'm Thinking Of Ending Things was text? a beautiful, tragic film about the experience of growing up closeted trans in the 90s. there's really nothing else quite like this film in articulating the experience of finding yourself in mass media, obsessing over it, growing into and through it, but running away from its possibilities and strangling yourself in the process. a film about why queer people (especially closeted ones) often identify with trashy genre media, and how nostalgia plays into that. i really need to see this one again.
