There's so much love in this, in all of Hammer's work there's an unapologetic amount of deep love between herself and women, as well as just between women in general. Hammer's work feels like an expression of human closeness within a world where homosexuality was nowhere near the level of acceptability as it is today. Her art reflects someone who is unabashedly herself.
