Two years ago I watched It’s A Wonderful Life for the first time. I was a bit skeptical going in. It was much different than the movies I usually watched at the time. All of my doubts quickly subsided after watching it though because I immediately loved it. When I rewatched this film last Christmas it hit me even harder than it did the first time. My family and I were going through a lot last year, so with everything going on this film affected me quite a bit. Now here we are again. Another year passed. A lot of the issues from this time last year have subsided and I have been blessed with great things, yet new issues and things to worry about have arrived. I don’t think anything could have really prepared me for everything I felt on this rewatch. The weight of all of the emotion (good and bad) of the past year all hit at once while watching this, and left me with a viewing experience unlike any I have ever had. I think this was the most emotional I have ever been while watching a film, which is wild to think about considering this is now the third time I have witnessed this story. But man this is a film that just does it to me. I think that every year I’m going to try to express what this movie makes me feel, but it’s never going to sound right. It’s something that I really can’t express through words. No movie effects me like this one does, and it effected me more this time than it ever had before. I love It’s A Wonderful Life, and I’m so grateful that it exists.
