If you didn’t know I was worried if I would like this movie…
Wow. It’s been a while since a movie has been able to hit me like this emotionally. I think it’s safe to say that this is the most heartwarming movie of all time. Throughout the film you get to watch George Bailey’s highs and lows. Right when things are getting really good, something bad happens. Then when things are getting really bad, something good happens. The thing that this film does so well is that you don’t just see his ups and downs, but you feel the ups and downs. You feel like a part of George. This could be since you watch his entire life, or just because you become so emotionally attached to his character.
The theme of the film is outstanding. It reminds you that you’re worth something. Whether you feel like it or not, you play a part in this world. Somebody out there cares about you. The film isn’t quiet about it’s theme either. This can sometimes be a bad thing, but in a film like this I would rather the theme be plain as day for me to see.
Films don’t need fancy visuals and cinematography. They don’t need to explore deep engrossing worlds. All you need is a few good characters and story to tell.
