Silly, dumb and ridiculous movie. Even Michael Myers is burned out at this point. He literally just lets someone else do the killing for him and at the end gets overpowered by an elderly woman and has his corpse paraded through town. How embarrassing. The soundtrack is good at least.
EDIT: Dammit. This is one of the rare occasions where a movie is growing on me. It’s still very flawed but I did like the portrayal of Michael Myers as a tired hibernating bear in his cave looking for someone to do the killing for him. It’s an interesting concept that I like the more I think about it. Then when the other dude starts wearing the mask and killing as Myers we realize as an audience that it doesn’t really matter who wears the mask as long as our thirst for blood and carnage is satisfied. Myers is hardly a character anyway. Actually the more I think about the ending the more I kinda like that too. Initially I found the ending silly (which I still kinda do) but it almost makes you sympathize with Myers as Laurie traps and gleefully tortures him. He deserves it but still he comes off more as a pathetic wild animal in this than evil incarnate especially with his mask off where we see a withered old man underneath. The town’s people parade him around like a violent spectacle for all to see. Almost seems like a metaphor for the franchise itself or something. Dammit. I might be starting to actually like this movie. It’s weird when that happens. I probably won’t ever watch it again but hey. It ain’t so bad although it could be I’m reading too much into it. While I thought of aspects to appreciate about Halloween Ends, I still think the love story aspect was beyond ridiculous, the characters are cookie cutter and some of the dialogue is atrocious. Anyway, I’m rambling at this point. I’ll raise my rating from a 2 star to a 3 star. In other news, today I actually lowered my rating on my review on the new Hellraiser from a 2 star to a 1.5. So sometimes it works the opposite way. Okay I’m done now.
