So Amy had a great, but crazy, idea (per usual). She got Tyler and myself to agree to talk about the year of 2024 movies before the end year. There’s so many things I wished I’d seen, and a lot I wasn’t even able to (always the caveat). Regardless, I had a lot of fun talking a little about favorite Non-‘24 releases (will do something fun with my full discoveries list soon), then going through a bunch of award-type categories for ‘24…

Better Living 2023
Well, I shared the link for this on the ol' LB a year ago; from one Christmas to another. The video has been unlisted this whole time as it was still in contention for some festivals, but that chapter on the film has fully come to a close, so now the film is fully available for public consumption.
Watch it here
I've appreciated all the feedback I have been able to get (both on and off LB), and would love…

Den of Thieves 2018
Had 18 minutes left in this when I found out David passed (cried for an hour, and then decided I might as well finish it a little bit after that). Hate that this will forever be intertwined with the memory of one of the giants in my personal life (and the history of cinema) moving on to the other side, but I guess it’s also kinda funny.

I’ve watched it so many times. Because it’s hilarious for like 4 minutes, but then it’s randomly like the most inspiring video for 4 minutes.
I know Lynch means a lot to a lot of people, and I’m one of them. I really didn’t expect to have such a reaction, but borderline sobbed (EDIT: am still borderline sobbing). Can’t tell if the move is to watch nothing (a lá his instructions for when Angelo passed, “today, no music.”), or maybe, just The Wizard of Oz.
Fuck.

This shouldn't work. It should be deplorable, convoluted, annoying, and pretentious. It should make me feel sick, I should hate this, I should never want to look at Vincent Gallo, and I should wash this away from my life. But I just can't. It just works. It's magical really. Brilliant performances all around, wild stylistic choices, and a moving tale of a horrible protagonist (that you somehow feel bad for (sometimes)) slowly learning to accept, take responsibility, and love. What…
