My Nigerian father-in-law, when he's in a comfortable mood, often switches between languages and dialects in conversation. He said a phrase in Igbo to me the other day. I asked him to translate, and he said it means, “I’m serious”, which is one of his favorite expressions in English.

Humanity is for the Birds

Aside from the 36 Thanksgiving turkeys I’ve participated in devouring over the course of my lifetime, I’ve eaten the equivalent of 2,172 turkey breasts (BBQ stands and deli meat), 743 turkey thighs (cheap deli meat), 79 turkey wings (stews and gumbos), and 138 turkey drumsticks (I worked a few seasons as a vendor at my local Renaissance Festival, huzzah!).
