El tiburón aún funciona: el impacto y legado de "Tiburón", Der Hai funktioniert noch: Einfluss und Vermächtnis von JAWS
Watched cause I couldn’t be bothered to move after watching Jaws.
My laziness paid off, cause this was awesome.
Kinda burnt out on Jaws stuff and how it was made and all that, but this was absolutely incredible. I would even say it’s better than “The Making Of ‘Jaws.’” I just love how this film is made. It takes a different approach to a docu, focusing more on the legacy of the film.
I love that they interview locals of Martha’s Vineyard and you’re just given so much introspection about the film, on and off set.
I wasn’t aware that Spielberg let the actors ad lib a bunch, and it is absolutely mind blowing that some of the most famous lines and scenes came from ad libbing. As an example of an ad libbed scene, the scene in which…
Here's to swimmin' with bowlegged women! 🦈
I'm looking forward to Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story tomorrow but this documentary will be hard to beat! One for the fans.
Thank God the footage of Joe Spinell consoling Steven Spielberg after his Oscar snub while wearing a Jaws shirt and suit jacket is preserved on official physical media.
"Jaws" ist dann wohl sowas wie der Begründer der Popkultur.
Schön, das man es nochmal gesagt hat. Noch schöner, die richtigen Worte gefunden und es von den richtigen Menschen ausgesprochen zu haben.
If by "Legacy", you mean a "Where are they now?" feature on the "A Whaaaa?" guy, then yes.
For super nerds only.
Yes, I'm talking to all of you
fun fact: my 5th grade science teacher was an extra in this movie
anyway, someone pls take me to jawsfest ❤️
Avoiding (mostly) all the mythical behind the scenes stories of the all time classic, it spends most of its run time indeed focusing on both the impact and legacy of the film.
Dispensing with the making of within the first 15 minutes or so, the film then delves into specific elements of it - the editing, the real shark footage, the critical acclaim, the island and islanders, the fans and how they've embraced the film - and nicely weaves superb behind the scenes footage not seen before (the still photography and some of the super-8 shots are utterly fantastic and nirvana for fans of the film) into stories from film makers, those involved and regular people plucked off the street.…
I prefer this later documentary that clocks in at 103 minutes to the original two hour making of. The reason being i'm always fascinated by what other directors and film makers have to say about my favourite films. So in addition to the likes of the returning Spielberg, Dreyfuss, Benchley, Scheider etc we get the additional thoughts of Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, M. Night Shyamalan, Eli Roth, Greg Nicotero and Tom Savini and even Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante
Their views give this doc an almost fanboy (like me) perspective of the film and is most welcome.
One of the first websites I ever remember stumbling upon way back in the 90's was JawsMovie.com. I was almost as obsessed with that site as I was the actual movie of Jaws, which I first saw as a kid on the old Video Disc format. It's been my favourite movie ever since that day and the JawsMovie.com website was the first time I realized there were other crazy people out there who felt the same way. Fans like Erik Hollander, Chuck Gramling and Michael Roddy actually went out Edgartown in the 80's and 90's where the movie was filmed and took location pictures that always blew me away and filled me with insane jealousy. It was paradise for a…
