It is difficult to categorise this film from writer/director David Yon. It is shot like a documentary but contains narrative elements, co-written with Zoheir Mefti and Lamine Bachar, the main actor, whose poetry is the source of much of the film’s voiceover. It is a road movie but contains elements familiar from experimental film, and ambiguity about what has led up to the incidents we see in the film.

Visually beautiful, and intriguing. “The Night and the Kid” a powerful poetic fable made of documentary images, with night shots carved by light, of extreme beauty. An unprecedented dive into a mysterious world, both tangible and dreamlike.
