I almost went saying “the dialogue is so cringe!” then I immediately realized that is how I speak everyday
there are so many great and beautifully done things in this movie but what stabbed me through the heart was the relationship dynamic of vada and her sister, something so raw and so personal to me that captured the bond so well.
this is one of my new favorite movies of all time, so many layers to processing grief and trauma and not just through jennas character but every character shown. her family, the other victims, and each unique experience shown, capturing how there is no right way to process trauma.
jenna ortega was fantastic and is so talented, her performance had me in awe and i hope to continue to see her in more projects.
Multiple heavy subjects handled with care, while still giving room for these young people to act like teens. Beautifully executed.
One of the few films I've seen that actually understands what teenagers are like today.
5 stars for jenna ortega
minus 1 star for the amount of times she said “lol” out loud
paul dano being vada's celebrity crush?? yeah she gets me, she's just like me and she is one of my people.
Incredibly well done and poetic. It’s simultaneously inviting and haunting with a tricky tone that constantly teeters between light-hearted and melancholy.Feels like a great way to show how life goes on after traumatic experiences. There’s always an after and there’s always multiple ways to live through it. Jenna Ortega is stellar and the cast all around is pretty excellent. The heaviness of the subject matter is definitely gonna take awhile to sink in for me but I still heavily recommend it. We’re gonna be talking about this one for a while
who was the casting director because maddy and jenna’s chemistry was off the charts
