Synopsis
The dog who gets no respect
Rover, a street-smart dog owned by a Las Vegas showgirl is dumped off Hoover Dam by the showgirl's boyfriend. Rather than drowning, Rover winds up in your basic idyllic farm in a classic city-boy-in-country shtick.

Say what you want about Rover Dangerfield. I cannot and will not stop you. But this movie exists as a testament to the weird and thoughtless cynicism at the heart of all mankind. So go ahead, sling your insults, your quips. Your jeers will make no dent on Rover Dangerfield just as an arrow -shot at the sun by the lost and delirious traveler in the desert- will never knock our giver of life from the sky. Yell all you want. You’re only yelling at the hole within.

who knew a dog drawn in the likeness of rodney dangerfield would look so hideous?

"Rover Dangerfield" is a 1991 animated film directed by James L. George and Bob Seeley. Following the infamous persona of comedian Rodney Dangerfield, the film inserts him in animated dog from as he ventures from the streets of Las Vegas to an adventure down on the farm. Ironically, this film was never intended to be the G rated film that it turned out to be. Rather it was a product in development within the late 1980s and was intended to be a R rated animation with adult based humor. Certainty this all flew over my head as a child but upon rewatch I can absolutely see the intent and that this was drastically changed in mid process.

Possibly the least appropriate kids movie I've seen in some time, including, but not limited to: Smoking, drinking, gambling, animal crueltry, domestic violence, scantily clad showgirls, murder, and Rodney Dangerfield.

You've heard of "Alec Baldwin is a baby" and "Kevin Spacey is a cat", but y'all aren't prepared for "Rodney Dangerfield is a dog

literally pause this movie at any timestamp and you'll see rodney dangerfield's fursona making the most pants-wettingly fucked-up facial expression this side of Bakshi. Truly Every Frame a Painting
