Despite being an almost shot-for-shot remake of the Spanish horror masterpiece, Quarantine is one of the worst examples of its kind. Made specifically for those who can't read but are too embarrassed to admit it and use the stupid excuse of distraction caused by subtitles as their defence, it is one of those crappy films you deserve to watch if you can't be bothered to read a few subtitles.
Set in Los Angeles, the story follows a television reporter & her cameraman as they are assigned to follow a firefighting crew on their night shift duty. Things are set in motion when they respond to a call coming from a small apartment building but soon find themselves locked inside it along…

Unnecessary remake of the great [REC]. It lacks atmosphere, the camerawork is just not as good, the acting is not so stressful, the infected don’t look scary and even the apartment somehow looks worse. It feels more like a feature film instead of a ‘realistic’ found document. Quarantine can easily be skipped.

An unnecessary but solid remake! Pretty similar overall but there is one huge difference and that is the disease itself and its origins!
The scene in the unlit rooms with the anxiety ridden news reporter (Jennifer Carpenter) breathless with her eyes searching the dark frantically with a look of sheer terror on her face gave me goose bumps on my goose bumps!
That was so me at the state fair's haunted house! I nearly jumped out of my skin when I realized the monsters were coming after me from behind walls and barriers! I ran out screaming like a banshee!
I may have felt like running away screaming like a 12 year old girl while watching Quarantine today but I bit the bullet and endured some of the most hair raising scenes captured on film!

Watching this remake instead of the original is like booking a flight to Madrid and it takes you to Madrid, Iowa.
Is there anything more American than taking a European horror, remaking it shot by shot, but then changing the reason for the virus from blaming religion to blaming science 🙄

Not as good as Paco Plaza and Jaume Balagueró‘s version but still just as riveting. Jennifer Carpenter’s ability to go to that absolute sheer terror mode is what sells it.
