A movie that opens up with a POV shot of a herd of sperm as they race to an egg. One such sperm is voiced by Bruce Willis who rejoices in making it to the egg first and as he grows, Heckerling unabashedly cuts to a uncanny valley Bruce Willis fetus as he quips about his mom eating spicy food. But as strange as this entire movie is— it’s also funny.
It’s a movie they could only have been made on the precipice of the 90s and it’s a movie that made almost 300 million dollars at the box office.

Probably the film that was heavily influenced by this film, "Baby Geniuses," is the only film that I have ever walked out of a theater. As it turns out, I didn't miss much because the movie apparently is terrible. In contrast, this movie is a charming comedy with plenty of laughs, despite the fact that it occasionally verges on silliness and that the jokes take a while to land.
Bruce Willis's performances as a fetus and a baby are just as hilarious as they sound, thanks in large part to the excellent writing of Amy Heckerling, whose career has been bookended by some classic films and apparently some yucky material. Reminded me a bit of One Fine Morning (Hansen-Løve, 2022).
Have to admit there was a moment when Travolta (who’s very charming) confronted Kristie Alley’s asshole baby daddy (based, it turns out, on Harold Ramis!!!), asking him a bunch of questions about his kid that he doesn’t know the answer to, that had me feeling very moved. Travolta loves that kid!
The Bruce Willis “talking baby” shit is dire, and feels like it was added by panicked executives to an already-completed movie in post.

My brother and I watched these films LOADS growing up. I definitely remember as being one the films we watched over and over and over, but I hadn't seen it in years, at least 12 years I reckon, maybe more.
