They cancelled Sense8 but spent $7.5 million making something nobody is going to willingly log-on to watch, unless they want to review it with the sole intention of comparing the film's existence to Sense8's impending lack of existence.

not saying that IM the antichrist but if adam scott was my step-dad, i also would call him "daddy" and would probably do some fucked up shit......

A relaxing horror-comedy that won’t scare you but might make you laugh a bit. Scott is fantastic in this role, and his mix of genuine confusion and natural comedic timing makes it surprisingly entertaining to watch.
We have a film with shaky hands here that borrows from the horror genre and creates a clichéd yet thoroughly enjoyable experience and the movie knows that. There's a bit of satirical teasing and straightforward storytelling, but for me, it had this perfectly charming sense of confusion that surprisingly worked well. The movie is genuinely funny in a few scenes.
And as I said, this movie is a bit shaky; it feels somewhat inconsistent, and its pacing gets too mixed up in trying to…

This film is hilariously entertaining if you recognize the intended allusions, particularly the nods to THE OMEN & THE SHINING. Me being a horror nerd its hard not to love that. Adam Scott and Owen Atlas are charming as step-father and son, especially in the water park scenes. Evangeline Lilly is surprisingly perfect as the ditsy mom; she delivers her lines with impeccable comic timing. I've never seen her outside of LOST and her performance here is spot-on. Yes, some bits are campy and silly, but the overall message is touching and relevant. Let me note I put it on just to peak my interest, and have some background noise, but I ended up sitting there and watching it fully. So in that regard it won me over, and it was a pleasant quick watch.

This went from creepy kid literally burying his stepdad to cute happy ever after day out with the same freaking stepdad really quick. . .a little evil too quick I might even say. But. . .the horror tropes were efficiently used to comical effect and Adam Scott and Evangeline Lilly were at their laugh out loud best here, although that wasn't entirely enough to allow the muddled plot to pass without noticing how muddled it was, which it most certainly was. The final scenes were deliciously, wickedly over the top, but I can't help but feeling that it could have even been pushed way further to reach maximum effect. It still remains a fun, little evil film after all. If Evangeline Lily was my fiancée, I would, too, put that lot of effort into retaining that situation, no matter how little or how evil the consequences.
