what if the angel of
death was merely
innocence in a mask
and, even stranger,
what if the angel of
death stole away our
souls not scarily,
but kindly & gently?

*sees a weerasethakul movie once*
-
Short, gentle and charming, a touching, well-shot little fable about life and death

the apichatpong vibes are strong in this one

this short film means so much to me I just can't stop watching it I'm in awe <3
-
Filmstruck is really out here giving me short films that are 9 minutes long that are borderlining horrific imagery and poetically beautiful storytelling. Orbs of light travel as old souls burn out. I lowkey teared up and I really wasn’t sure what the fuck was happening. Bravo to everyone who made this shit y’all make me have feelings.

this is literally everything i want to achieve as a filmmaker omg to be able to create a whole new world in the span of a few seconds, transporting the viewers into a completely different universe, full of mystery, and having them believe in magic again... yes that's powerful

my god i have been wanting to see this short for the past 2/3 years and finally!! it happened and i cried a lot.
also i've been really into apichatpong weerasethakul work lately and this short perfectly captures what i love most in his films, this dream like atmosphere where dreams and reality blur the line and create this sort of world in between two worlds. i love the way it makes me feel, how it takes me out of my world and takes me back to being a kid believing in magic.

Watched as part of FilmStruck’s short + feature series (to be watched before Tropical Malady). Lovely, engrossing, and hopeful
