Portman has choices to make,
About Ladies hanging by Lakes.
In Baltimore,
What she's looking for,
A story that she wants to break.
Natalie Portman, you should’ve sat this one out, sweetie. You were in Jackie, you’re much better than this, even if you did recycle the entire Jackie wardrobe.
The first few episodes started ok but then it went rapidly downhill, climaxing into the worst episode ever, which consists only of crazy dream sequences.
The story's perspective is interesting, but the plot tends to drag a lot. The opening is very good, and the performances of the casts are amazing but it just couldn't deliver.
With a period thriller that covers the racial equality of that period, the rise of women, race issues, gender issues, patriarchy, etc could have worked amazingly here.
But in the end, the little girl's case was not solved (which was the main purpose I thought) and the man who was locked up was also left unsolved, and there was no explanation for why the mother did what she did.

Lady in the Lake, based on the novel of the same name by Laura Lippman, begins as one could guess: On a lake. This lake’s titular lady is at this moment faceless, just a body in a blue coat on the back of a boat. A man rows the boat to a fountain in the middle of the lake, and after throwing her over his shoulder, dumps her inside. We learn the identity of the victim right away, as she speaks of her death in the first few minutes. Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram)’s narration introduces us to the end of her story, while she speaks directly to one woman in particular. Maddie Schwartz (Natalie Portman) is a Jewish housewife-turned-journalist for…
Unfortunately my expectations were far too high but Natalie, Moses and the rest of the supporting cast’s performances carried both the show and story
My wife and I recently watched the 7-episode series Lady in the Lake (2024) on Apple+. Set in 1960s Baltimore, the story follows a white woman who decides to leave her family life behind and forge her own path. She aspires to become a respected journalist, and when the body of a Black woman is found in a reservoir, she suspects there's more to the story. Her investigation leads her into the Black underground of Baltimore, where she uncovers not only the truth behind the crime but also gains a deeper understanding of the culture—and herself.
Created by Alma Har'el (Honey Boy), the series stars Natalie Portman (The Professional), Monique Denise Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Y'lan Noel (Insecure), Brett Gelman…
Say somethin’ ‘bout the
motherfuckin’ prequels,
bitch 🎶
I don’t know if this is actually good or if it will go anywhere interesting, but it’s Natalie in the ‘60s. 💖
Apple is really out here making some of the most exquisitely crafted, high budget television there is- only for it to barely get any recognition because this company refuses to promote its projects for some reason.
I couldn’t get enough of this show. Something about it just really clicked for me. The ways it which is was structured and paced, Particularly in the early episodes, is unlike anything I’ve ever watched. Episode by episode, I only grew more obsessed with this story and invested in the characters.
Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram are both incredible leads, and the supporting cast all elevate this series to a suburb level.
Lady in The Lake is a dark, enchanting, nuanced and complex mystery that really delivered for me. Truly a unique and decadently executed Series that deserves to make more noise.
Highly recommend watching if you haven’t !!
Natalie Portman in more tv rolls please!

Following up a fantastic performance in Todd Hayne’s May December, Natalie Portman’s (Black Swan, Star Wars prequel trilogy) latest project, Lady in the Lake, has just finished a seven-episode run at Apple TV+.
Lady in the Lake follows Maddie Schwartz (Portman) as she ditches her old life, her abusive husband (Brett Gelman) and her home to make a new life for herself as an investigative journalist. She begins to obsess over two separate murders, and as the mystery begins to unravel, so does her psyche.
The show blends two different storylines, with one following Maddie, and the other following Cleo Johnson (Moses Ingram). A show such as this would normally be able to tackle such…
