This is a totally by-the-numbers, schlocky but engaging 90s detective thriller with corny serial killers, elevated by a measured performance from Morgan Freeman.

Worst placement for an aquarium I've seen in my entire life.
Freeman and Judd are good but the cinematography and the editing are absolutely hellish. Also I figured out who the killer is the second that actor showed up.

I’ve been aware of this duology for a very long time, probably since I was a kid, as they always played the sequel on cable. I only got to the opening and apparently only saw the ending of that one, but I believe this is the first time I ever watched this one.
And it was alright. There is a ton of cool stuff, and Freeman does a fantastic job playing the instantly captivating character Cross. His wit, his charm, and Freeman’s own unique presence he brings to many of his roles. Judd is also pretty good; she does well playing this damsel in distress/victim-turned-competent heroine.
