Hostile is essentially two movies rolled into one. We have a post apocalyptic story about a girl getting trapped in a car in the middle of an arid wasteland and then a load of flashbacks that recount her troubled life and romance with an art dealer. Neither one is particularly inspired, but the flashbacks are so bad that they make you want to get back to the desert as soon as possible. The film was obviously made on a shoestring; both parts of it are small scale and light on action. There's a creature that looks like a speeded up versions of Snoke from Star Wars. Brittany Ashworth is the lead and she's much better in the desert scenes than…
Love until the End
Damn, if this movie would've decided not to involve a kitschy love story and would've only focused on the dystopian breakdown of society shown as faith of one lonely Woman, it could've been something decent. But our Main-Actress does so many stupid errors, in both storylines that it was almost offensive. sad times, as the world-building in itself wasn't bad at all.
"Why are you so afraid?"
I'm trying to watch this post-apocalyptic horror film about a lone woman stuck in a wrecked car in the middle of the desert with a broken leg and some kind of creature stalking her and they keep interrupting it with some completely uninteresting backstory about how she once dated a gallery owner.
And most of the film seems to consist of the uninteresting backstory.
The post-apocalyptic shit isn't the most original that I've seen, but it builds tension very well and kept me on the edge of my seat... Until the scene changed back to decorating an apartment with her boyfriend.
For me, Hostile has one thing I wanna see when I watch an indy : balls.
Sure, some flash-backs are a little bit too long, and the end could be seen has too much, but I didn't expect any of the scenes, and it totally took me by surprise.
Loved it and don't get the one star reviews or comments... I wanted to give it a 4 stars rating, but I give it a five just for that.
It was quite interesting. The art gallery scene was dumb, but it’s like MAD MAX meets CLOVERFIELD, meets I AM LEGEND. I did not know where story was going. Very well done. Interesting too.
It was time for another HorrorPack movie and this was on top of the pile. Not that it is much of a pile right now. Brittany Ashworth gets the lead role in this one, who I just watched in another movie for the first time a few days ago. It is weird how that works out sometimes. Anyway, the story for this one is all about Juliette. At the start of the story, we learn that the world isn't the one we know any longer. Something has happened and Juliette is scouting for the group of survivors she is with. While driving back to base, she has an accident and breaks her leg badly. To make matters worse, some type…
FRIGHT-WEEN 2🎃20
31 Days of Halloween - October 20
Mathieu Turi didn't wanted to make just another post apocalyptic movie, so he weaved in a love story with a supposed to be twist ending !
This is quite an interesting debut movie by Turi. Storywise, flashbacks considered, it plays out very well. Only the ending could be questionable though, far fetched perhaps !? The film is capable shot, it looks great. For a first timer this is top notch smart film making for sure !
We don't really get an explanation what happened to the world, only a few glimpses here and there. I love the way he keeps the post apocalyptic to the background and centers around their story.…
Waaaaaaaaaa!😭 We’re all just junkies and monsters, why can’t we all just love each other?... F.T.M.!!! 🖕🏻🤬🖕🏻with it’s hippie dippy, peace and love, shallowood propaganda b.s. The title of this movie is perfect because that’s how you’ll feel at the end.
Sorry for my English. I'm French.
I have seen the movie at the Utopiales in France, and I loved it. Especially the characters and the fact that it has a lot of flash-backs. It was useful to go deeper into the characters and to understand what Juliette had lived before.
I loved the sets and the light of the movie, and It is very well made and directed.
The end was powerful and even if I understand it could shock, I loved it.
I had the chance to discuss with the director after the movie and he was nice and just 30 years old.
In France, you don't see that kind of movie in theater, so it was good to see it.

"Stuck between you and God, huh? Interesting sandwich".
When I sat down to watch Hostile, I sat down to see a post-apocalyptic horror/thriller about a woman stranded in a desert, stalked by some mysterious creature. I must have read the synopsis of a different film, because what I recieved instead, was an ~hour of unwanted romantic flashback background for a character I don't even care for yet...and then 10min of post-apocalypse. If you were expecting this to be anything like Resident Evil Extinction (the desert one), like me, you'll be sorely disillusioned and crestfallen. 2 mutuals logged: I think that's 1 too many.

Somewhat of a love story mixed with an apocalyptic story that is very blend. Go thing that the run time is less than 90 minutes. Worth watching on a rainy day.
