David Callaway tries to piece together his life in the wake of his wife's suicide and has been left to raise his nine-year-old daughter, Emily on his own. David is at first amused to discover that Emily has created an imaginary friend named 'Charlie', but it isn't long before 'Charlie' develops a sinister and violent side, and as David struggles with his daughter's growing emotional problems, he comes to the frightening realisation that 'Charlie' isn't just a figment of Emily's imagination.

I don't understand the negative reviews this movie is getting on Letterboxd. It is a good thriller. It isn't an academy nominated film... it is good for what it is and it does its job.
I love the ending. I was crept out. The actors are very good.
There's a lot to like about this movie.

Otra película dosmilera que vi varias veces durante mi adolescencia. Me encantaba el misterio que rodea a esta historia y la forma en que se resuelve.
Aunque el filme no envejeció del todo mal, creo que el plot twist -que antiguamente me parecía espectacular- es bastante predecible y eso arruina un poquito la experiencia global de Hide and Seek. De todas maneras, la película es entretenida, la atmósfera tensa está súper bien construida y creo que ver a De Niro y a una pequeña Dakota Fanning interactuando y compartiendo pantalla es un lujazo. Sumando y restando, es una buena peli para entretenerse y pasar el rato!

Hide and Seek, a thriller about a deadly imaginary friend, started strong and with a good suspense build-up. The well-drawn characters was given justice by a splendid Dakota Fanning and a committed Robert De Niro.
However, the tone felt monotonous and Hide and Seek lost its edge very early on by failing to escalate tension. The scares and twists were all wrongfully placed too, lacking the impact they should have. This John Polson movie is generally lacking in shivers and goosebumps too - which is quite sad because with a stacked supporting cast that includes Elisabeth Shue, Famke Janssen and a cameo from Melissa Leo, forgettable Hide and Seek shouldn’t be destined to hide deep in our memory. Technically, I’m annoyed with the cheesy shots/camera work.
