Thank god it finally ended, now I'm gonna wash my brain with acid.
I'm pretty sure the Assessor was eating all the previous straight-to DVD scripts of this franchise that's why he was not able to swallow and passed out, because of how shit they were.
At this point, even Pinhead got pissed and said: "fuck the cube, let's set up our torture shop on earth and become permanent residents". That's right people cube means shit now, and gone are the days when a shady-looking guy gave a cube to some dickhead, guess they got bored too of these shitty sequels. I mean you can't blame them too it's been over three decades now, if they can't learn to move…
Welp. I never thought I’d be yearning for the days of the Rick Bota helmed sequels, but here I am. Yet another attempt to mix Se7en and Hellraiser movie and I’m sick of it at this point.
With every release I get optimistic and hope for the best... and while this is better than Revelations, That’s not saying very much considering how universally despised that film it. The dingy Saw-like warehouse setting, Silent Hill vibes, and Se7en-like cop procedural stuff just did not work for me. After a pretty neat intro gets ruined by naked puke drinkers, the next hour focuses on cops barely investigating a serial killer before ending up in another dingy warehouse, quoting great expectations or whatever, and naturally the final…
getting through this was absolute torture, but i'm happy to say that i am finally done with these awful films
Basically a Hellraiser fanfic written by an edgy 14-year-old who just discovered Se7en on IMDb Top 250 and thought it was pretty cool.
"Hellraiser: Judgment" starts promisingly and has torture & gore scenes which are totally worth seeing, but the story can't keep up (again) and drags on immeasurably..
Now I‘m ready for the reboot 🙃
Well, this was better than the last one so there’s that?
I guess the biggest letdown for me was that I was hoping for a completely original Hellraiser story and a small part of this was, but mostly it was just a dirty looking crime thriller with Pinhead cameos much like part 5. The beginning was original and actually really promising. It totally reminded me of Silent Hill and I’m thinking a mix of that movie and Hellraiser sounds pretty promising, but then that whole thing takes a backseat to another generic serial killer story that the director/writer thought should be the main focus because I really don’t know why. It’s frustrating.
The low budget of this was really obvious and there…
Se7en and its consequences have been a disaster for the Hellraiser franchise.
My running theory about Hellraiser sequels starting out as other screenplays with the cenobites just jammed in, gets its strongest argument with Hellraiser: Judgment.
I actually didn’t mind the start of the film which felt like a weird combination of Saw and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And the Adjudicator with his messed up Invisible Man look was a fresh take on a cenobite. But then the film settles into a low rent version of a CBS cop drama and any interest goes right down the drain. The problem is that these Hellraiser sequels could be decent but they don’t have a puncher’s chance to be good with these limited budgets and half baked plots.
I will give this movie some credit. Unlike the previous entry, this one actually does try to create something new while also having the spirit of the originals. This one also has a way better Pinhead actor (nowhere near Doug Bradley though). So this movie is definitely better than Revelations, but that is an incredibly low bar.
That’s about all the praise I can give this movie. Everything else in this is either uninteresting or poorly done. This is also the grossest one, and I don’t mean the good kind of horror movie gross, it’s just disgusting.
Damn. 2018 and the direct-to-video Hellraiser sequels are STILL ripping off "Se7en" and "Saw."
