Remember when these movies were just about bringing horny British men back to an attic?
Motive, good police work, and a fatal gunshot wound are also imaginary in this universe.
Take a note people, never binge-watch the Hellraiser series, and if you do make sure you are taking notes because in just a day you are gonna consider two movies as one and will start bitching about how bad all of the instalments have been after the first two. Because it's Rick Bota who is a talent-less hack, jerking off all over this franchise in the name of psychological horror.
H6 is nothing but a straight-up shit copy of inferno, with the only difference being the introduction of a fan-favourite character from the first two Hellraiser movies for the sake of nostalgia. A character who can provide you with as much enjoyment as a tik tokers rant on why the earth is flat.
The lead in this is the Mayhem guy from the Allstate commercials, and he’s actually not a terrible actor.
This isn’t necessarily a bad movie, but much like Inferno, this film would be waaaaay better off if it wasn’t a Hellraiser movie. Pinhead is barely in this, and everything with him feels so shoehorned and unnecessary. I have a feeling there’s gonna be a very steep decline with this series really soon.
This six installment is my favorite of the DTV Hellraiser sequels. I know I’m in the minority on that one, but there you have it. I like that it has a dark morality tale similar to the 5th movie without the forced neo-noir aspect. This one is dreary with lots of blues and grays and I really enjoy that whole aesthetic. I also like that the bring back Kirsty from the first two movies because hey, at least they made an effort to connect it to the original story, right? Also, this one is a solid roster of C and D-list celebrities that only those of us who enjoy movies like this one will recognize.
As a Hellraiser movie this…
I’ve fondly dubbed this Memento-raiser. I love that Ashley Lawrence and her Kirsty Cotton character return, but wish she wasn’t so underutilized because that could have made for an interesting story (apparently one Clive Barker is working on). Still though, it’s oddly entertaining for what it is and I like this more than Judgment, Deader and Revelations, so it has that going for it too, plus Dean Winters.
Apparently Clive Barker had some influence on the third act, coincidentally that’s my favorite part, but that still saddens me because instead of these scumbag cop/murder investigation/serial killer stories that just aren’t that appealing, there is literally a treasure trove of stellar Hellraiser stories via comic form that would translate wonderfully to the screen.
Instead we get half assed cops investigating murders and an amnesiac dean winters, a goth train car in Hellseeker, and a Hellraiser murder house party with Hellworld.
This is a remake of Inferno more than any sort of sequel to Hellraiser. That's fine. I'll keep drinking that garbage.
this is just a complete copy of inferno. i can't even tell which of the two i disliked more because they're basically the exact same movie. why take a nonsensical sequel that was hated by most people who watched it and make another sequel with the same plot? what were they thinking? at least we got to see kirsty again. was it worth it though?
i don't even know how this franchise could get any worse but i'm sure the next few installments will manage to surprise me.
Similar in structure to Inferno but much more horny and has even less budget.
Following on from part five's surprisingly decent detour, enter Rick Bota for the first of three DTV Hellraiser sequels. Hellseeker features the triumphant return of Ashley Laurence in the role of Kirsty Cotten.....for all of about thirty seconds before she is killed in a car crash. We then follow her husband in the aftermath, as he descends into some sort of personal hell. The Hellraiser series is so far removed from what it was by this point. Hellseeker follows on a similar path to Inferno; anyone that saw the last film probably won't have much trouble figuring out where this one is going. Pinhead makes his appearance of course; he's left the old Freddy Krueger personality behind, preferring instead to…
