This Happy Madison comedy is gratuitously but handsomely shot in 2.35:1 on rich, glorious 35mm. Apparently cinematographer Mark Irwin cut his teeth with Cronenberg on films like Videodrome and The Fly before graduating to this.
Many of the jokes in this movie involve old ladies having sex. Of Sandler's friends, I would say that Allen Covert is my least favourite. He might be a nice guy in real life but he seems like a bully onscreen and I don't like him. Frankly I feel the same about this whole movie, which has a faint aroma of gym socks. I think the bourgeois critic class was actually right about this one, but if it makes you laugh then mazel tov.
This is the second movie in I row I've watched that contains a Rob Schneider cameo (after Little Man), and I realized to my surprise that I'm actually happy to see him.

Not sure I ever watched this credits to credits, which is largely owing to my preppy prudishness and aversion to "stoner stuff" when it was released, so acute that I could resist the siren song that is "Push It" enthusiastically karaoke'd by Cardellini—and no, I don't have any idea what my fucking problem was.
