September 3, 1939. The world is on the brink. A monumental session with two of the greatest minds of the twentieth century over the future of mankind and the existence of God.
On the eve of the Second World War, two of the greatest minds of the twentieth century, C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud converge for their own personal battle over the existence of God. The film interweaves the lives of Freud and Lewis, past, present, and through fantasy, bursting from the confines of Freud’s study on a dynamic journey.

work booked a screening with AARP and it played like the fucking avengers. full house in the regal. every C.S. Lewis retort landed like a crack of lightning with this crowd, cannot make this up. claps and cheers at credits. was youngest person in that cinema by 30 years at least. scarcely have i ever been so at peace. the kind lady next to me asked if i was going to hack her phone and steal her raisinets. every day is a gift
I'm pretty much the target audience for this, but I can't imagine many other people having the attention span for it. anyway, 'twas fun enough. too many flashbacks, not enough prolonged intellectual sparring. doesn't fully deliver on the promise of Lewis v. Freud: Dawn of Psychoanalysis. Hopkins is crazy good, and also crazy. the guy playing Lewis is too hot. CS Lewis isn't supposed to be hot
Interesting topics discussed include: -Homosexuality -God -Castration complex and other psychoanalytical goodies
Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode were great, but unfortunately the film felt stifled by the directing. The story explored interesting what ifs, but they could have pushed it further.
Vegan alert: -Reference to dissecting frogs -Humans killed by war, disease, and suicide
