  In Thüringen gibt es Statuen von berühmten Dichtern, Rostbratwurst und Gemüsezombies. Letztere sind dank gelungener Maskenarbeit vielleicht der beste Aspekt dieses Horrorfilmchens. Auch die postapokalyptische Landschaft bringt den ein oder anderen Punkt ein.
  Allerdings rufen der esotherisch gequirlte Plot, absolut bräsige Dialoge und vor allem rückständige Technik (in den unoriginellen Action-Szenen) anhaltende Gähner auf den Plan.
  Ungewöhnlich ist sicherlich, dass aus einem Horrorfilm quasi ein weibliches Buddy-Movie wird. Zu diesem Zweck hat man durchaus auch geeignete Darstellerinnen ausgewählt. Insgesamt ist dieser ungruselige Horrorfilm dann aber doch eher enttäuschend.

  I think the Earth is a wise old lady, and humans haven’t paid her any rent for too long, and out there, that’s our eviction order.

  A female led (Swantje Kohlhof and Maja Lehrer), directed (Carolina Hellsgård), shot (Leah Striker), written (Olivia Vieweg) and produced (Ingelore König) zombie film that is actually a fairy tale that plays out with the zombie apocalypse as a backdrop.

  Dudes that find feminism scary might want to stay clear, then again with its social commentary is subtle enough that it might fly right over their heads. The commentary that the Earth will do just fine after it gets rid of us wasn’t so subtle though, but at this point it doesn’t need to be.…

  Probably the nicest cinematography I've ever seen in a post apocalyptic zombie flick.

  Two very different young ladies(Vivi n Eva) leave one of two remaining communities to head to whats supposedly the better of the communities. They argue, they bond, they fight, they cry, all while evading zombies along the way. These zombies are unique as they have grass n branches growing out of their faces.

  Similar to another zombie film called "The Battery" in tone. Slow burn that focuses more on the character's growing bond while using the zombie apocalypse as a backdrop.

  Zwei Jahre nach der Zombie-Apokalypse, ist die Weltbevölkerung bald ausgerottet. In Weimar brechen zwei junge Frauen aus, jede mit ihrem eigenen Trauma, um nach Jena zukonmen.

  Der etwas "andere" Deutsche Zombiefilm von 2018, der als vorlage ein Comic hatte. Hier wird der Fokus mehr auf die zwei Frauen bezogen, die Zombies sind eher im Hintergrund. Man bekommt keinen Zombiefilm im herkömmlichen sinn geboten, nur ab und zu sind sie zu sehen/sind sie die Gefahr.
  Konnte leider damit nicht soviel anfangen, nicht weil ich mit anderen Erwartungen dran gegangen bin. Bin da halt nicht richtig reingekommen und irgendwann kam dann auch die Langeweile bei mir auf.
  Für mich war das nichts. Hier sollte sich aber jeder seine eigene Meinung bilden.

  October Horror Challenge 2019 Movie #32

  As ambitious as this feels like it wants to be, it just flops to the finish line, disconnecting about halfway through. It's a beautiful looking movie, with a few somewhat fresh ideas behind it, but it moves at a snail's pace, piecing out the obvious turns these sorts of films always take (guess what, a character will have to sacrifice themselves at some point for some kind of forced emotional beat) at a rate where we can see them coming long before the film does. It even drags out a flashback over the course of the film as though it'll show us some kind of revelation like we didn't get it the first fucking…

  A zombie apocalypse. Only two cities still have humans living in them. A traumatized teen is making a run from one city to the other. And that's it. But what a journey it is. Every once in a blue moon a movie comes into a saturated genre and innovates the shit out of it. This is this film. It doesn't have like a ton of carnage, there's plenty of horrific moments, but it's so well written and different that I even appreciated not having a blood splattered finale. Beautifully acted also. On Shudder. Shudder, I really, really, really, love you.

  endlich mal wieder Zombies aus Deutschland.

  Wenn man schon Zombiekost aus Deutschland bekommen kann dann immer her damit. Natürlich denkt man dann aber auch gleich an den großartigen Rammbock.
  Die Idee und die Umsetzung sind, gerade in der erst Hälfte, nicht schlecht. Gerade weil der Film sich ehr auf seine Charaktere konzentriert. Wer ein Actionfeuerwerk oder Gorefest erwartet wird hier enttäuscht.
  Leider verlieren sich die tollen Charatere und Ideen in der zweiten Hälfte in noch mehr Ideen. Diese sind aber leider nicht zuende gedacht bzw. werden nicht zuende gebracht. Was sich dann auch an dem recht lieblosen Ende zeigt.

  Was am Ende bleibt sind recht unterhaltsame 90 Minuten. Mit leider zu viel Luft nach oben.

  This is the second feature film by Swedish director Carolina Hellsgård, working in Germany. The post-apocalyptic zombie setting benefits from some impressive production design and the existentialism embedded adds some layers to the story.
