Synopsis

In his homeland of Alagaesia, a farm boy happens upon a dragon's egg -- a discovery that leads him on a predestined journey where he realized he's the one person who can defend his home against an evil king.

You might think that because literally no one watched this awful pre-teen plagiarized ripoff of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars that it does not actually exist. But you'd be mistaken. It does. This message is a warning. It's out there.

this was the last major motion picture to be released on VHS in the united states. it was released on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray simultaneously

This movie gets a lot of shit. I'm not going to say I don't understand why.
But what I will say is this:
The minute I publicly announce that I hated a movie about a hot guy who can do magic and hangs out with dragons...please call 911.

LIBERAL MEDIA wants to tell you that DRAGON MOVIE is BAD!!! how can movie be BAD if it has COOL DRAGON and NOSTALGIA!! dragons are cool if you disagree you are WRONG. im an #EragonTruther now - sorry guys hate to admit it Matthew was right
-
I understand why this was the last film to ever be released on VHS

I've always had this belief that if you start a film you should see it through to the end no matter the quality. I've stuck to that fairly rigidly over the years with very few exceptions. A couple of days ago I was broken after twenty minutes of The Internship by Vince Vaughn being Vince Vaughn and the cloying product placement of a certain web browser. Half an hour into this and I was toying with the idea of the off switch, but two failures in a couple of days would be embarrassing, so I persevered.
Now I normally really enjoy watching the likes of John Malkovich and Jeremy Irons who usually elevate even the dodgiest of films. Unfortunately for…

Would 100% be better if it was a love story. Idk. He and the dragon become friends, fight together fall in love idk. I'm sure plenty of fanfic writers would agree. Jeremy Irons could have a scene like Michael Stuhlbarg did in Call me By Your Name. It could be The Shape of Water 2: Dragon's Heart.
Rated NC-17. Wait nevermind it's a fictional creature so... R.
I don't know.
Anything to make this bland movie better. It's so uninteresting. Jeremy Irons is the only actor who gives a good performance most of the time. John Malkovich is laughably bad.
Otherwise complete trash.

i got high and put this on because of its freaky ass book cover i saw as a kid and i just found out the kid that finds and rides the dragon is named eragon and not the dragon like wtf bc this whole time in my head i thought for some reason it was eragon the dragon but no in reality this kid eragon found a dragon and named it saphira. that shit matches the freak of the cover kinda
