Don't cry because it happened, smile because it's over.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Chris Chibnall saw the hit 2022 film Bullet Train and thought to himself "I can do that", then preceded to do so with less than 5 times the budget or writing skill. So much so that the titular train was lost just as quickly as it was introduced with a blur and horrid direction, so nothing has changed since 2018 then…
Seriously though, as cool as it was to see the Classic Doctors back onscreen again after all these years (especially 5, 7 and 8), it was just really hard to find a plot underneath all the references and cameos that were very poorly justified. These guys deserve the world.

sacha dhawan put his whole pussy into this and for what

“The power of the doctor” sounds like a wattpad fic

After all the damage Chris Chibnall has wrought on this show - be it fridging a black woman in his first episode, denying Rosa Parks her historical agency*, stanning Space Amazon, equating Daleks with refugees, burying gays left and right, and revising the Doctor to be an all-powerful immortal space cop while simultaneously making her first full female incarnation the most passive iteration of the character yet - the knowledge that he's going out by giving us grown-up Ace in business clothes just pours salt on it.
I bet she won't even be gay.
*somehow I originally wrote “legacy”, which “Rosa” doesn’t deny so much as misrepresents.

Cant believe the BBC queerbaited me in the year of our Lord 2022

watching this era has been like being repeatedly hit in the face with a garden spade by someone who's also explaining to you what a garden spade is.

i can’t tell if this was actually good or if i got sucked up into the relentless fan-wanking

Live-watched on BBC iPlayer
Epic and ridiculous, bombastic and silly, overly-expository and poetic. May do a review at some point over the next week or month or when I do a massive Whittaker re-watch next year, but that was top notch stuff.
Well done, Chris.
Though wasn’t that new logo just rubbish?!*
AND WHY DID WE NOT SEE ANY OF THE DOCTOR’S PRE-HARTNELL INCARNATIONS IN THE WATCH, THAT WAS LITERALLY THE THING I WAS EXCITED FOR THE MOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*note, said quote was posted on the day of this episode's broadcast where we saw a bland typeface. Now that we've seen the diamond logo resurgence, I can now say RUSSELL, YOU GENIUS!

when i die, i want chris chibnall to lower me into my grave so he can let me down one last time.
