  Batman investigates a murder spree that takes place on holidays.

  This is a solid DC outing that follows the original story surprisingly well. While there were points in the animation that came across flat, the overall art style and look was solid. The bold outlines of the characters work well in this version of Gotham, and the harsh (and extremely adult) tone mixes well with the visual darkness. While this film does flesh out moments in the comic even more so than the comic itself, there is something about the straight-to-the-point feel of the original that works just a bit better.

  Blutig und düster windet sich eine der erwachsensten aller Batman-Geschichten durch die mafiöse Unterwelt Gothams. THE LONG HALLOWEEN gilt als Meilenstein der Batman-Geschichte, weil der Comic aus den späten Neunzigern eine vielschichtige Geschichte erzählt. Seine Inspiration zieht er dabei aus dem Film noir, den Kriminalfilmen der Dreißiger und Vierziger, in denen hartgesottene Ermittler des Nachts in verrauchten Seitengassen Schwerverbrechern nachjagen.

  Bis heute inspirierten Jeph Loeb und Tim Sale mit ihrer Kriminalgeschichte Generationen an Batman-Comics. Comics, in denen Batman nicht ein tadelloser Superheld ist, sondern ein fehlbarer Mann mit Schwächen und Selbstzweifeln, am Anfang seiner Karriere.   Although I'm not what one would call an avid comic book reader, I have read some independent comics as well as those published by DC and Marvel. One of those comics has been The Long Halloween, and so when I heard that there was going to be a movie based on it -and supposedly the new The Batman is based on this comic- I was really excited.

  And well, like many of these DC animated movies, I enjoy them, but few manage to excite me or anything of that sort. Although the animation isn't as weird or bad as I've read, it is still a little strange. Even though the adaptation is okay, it doesn't manage to capture my attention…

  You all know how much I love murder mystery stuff and I strongly dislike how little Batman’s detective work has been focused on in media outside of comics, so it was a pleasant surprise to me that this movie had both. There’s some serious Seven vibes here and the story is gripping the whole way through. I loved seeing Batman learning how to become a detective better

  I’m just shocked out how much I loved this, I think Mask of the phantasm just got it’s placement taken for me. I really just loved everything, I was hooked from the start, the voice acting, the mystery, animation, score, the atmosphere presented, it was all top notch in my opinion. That twist cliffhanger ending as well… boy oh boy am I excited for part 2. I also really loved the editing and pacing of the film, it kinda gave me a bit of Zodiac vibes which I loved.   One of the very best animated DC adaptations. Faithful to the original and visually fantastic. They really did one of the best Batman comics justice here.
