"i don't care when the blood drops spill
just another another another kill
OH BABY JOHN OH BABY JOHN"
Varun Dhawan kaa VISHWAROOP 🥵🥵🥵
liked the bollywoodification of theri even more. not sure why the letterboxd community is shitting on this, maybe they just don't know how to enjoy a good film these days (especially hindi lol). raja kumari and thaman absolutely cooked. also, guys, i think i've started liking keerthy. jaggu dada mass! loved the banter between bhai and varun, "baby tu bada kab hoga re 😂❤️", someone please cast them in an action-comedy like dishoom, that chemistry can't go to waste.
Theri on steroids (not in a good way)
Bollywood failing yet again trying to be something that it's not, which is to get that kind of organic rhythm to execute loud mass scenes. The slick not so dialogue heavy fights are neatly executed but the mass moments kinda falls flat. Nevertheless the movie is enjoyable for the most part , with some good scenes and equally bad scenes. Some of the scenes were literally adverts lol, pipes , frooti and what not.
VD had that kind of main charecter energy missing and it felt like watching peter parker trying to be like Tony stark, he's good in the more silent and intense scenes rather than the mass scenes cause everybody…
Babbar Sher picked a fight with Baby John - spoiler alert: the baby won.
And I gotta tell you, it was perfect. Perfect. Everything. Down to the last minute details
Yes, yes, Baby John movie for me is on the same level as Theri was for me, or maybe I should say it was a little better. The emotions I felt the first time while watching Theri on TV, I felt all those same emotions again while watching Baby John in the theater. Yes, I cheered in every scene whenever Varun was beating up the villains or during his massy, classy, fiery entries.
Baby John action and Jaggu Dada as the villain were probably the aspects that were better in comparison to Theri.
The dialogue "Comedy is a serious business" and also Bhaijaan entry…
The "Special thanks to Thalapathy Vijay" in the opening credits had more aura than the film.
There are so many opportunities to make a remake better, but this film didn't attempt none of them.
Varun does everything a mass film asks of an actor. He truly looks like a beast unleashed in the action scenes. I enjoyed the film, at least better than the usual toxic hero worship… but I won’t deny it was messy in terms of story and editing.
And woh Thalapathy ke style ko bhi mimic karna zaruri tha kya...?
SALLU BHAI KYU KAR RAHE HO AISA? 😭😭
I had high hopes for this one because Theri is one of my favorite films. I already knew that Varun would not match the aura of Thalapathy, but after seeing the teaser, trailer, and songs, film looked promising. However, the rest is history. 🥲
It has a few visually engaging moments, and it seems like the director had a vision, but the overall execution is marred by a weak script, miscast roles, and a lack of originality. And let me be honest: "movie boring thi."
Overall, if you haven't watched Theri, you may like Baby John, but if you're a Theri fan like me, you're going to find this as a bakchodi.

THIS IS HOW YOU DO MASS FILMS BHAI!
The action scenes, combined with the background music, hit just right and feels absolutely thrilling. But the film does have its fair share of those classic South Indian mass moments that feel a bit clichéd.
Also, the 162 mins runtime just doesn't feel justified, the songs and some scenes could've been trimmed out to get even a better, crisp cut.
remake done right. all the way down to casting, cinematography, background score, i had a wonderful experience watching this on christmas day in a packed theater. i’m so happy for varun dhawan, he not only looked amazing but brought on a lot of charisma and his screen presence was entertaining as hell! (finest he ever looked imo, especially 2nd half) it was a blast to see varun in his most massy avatar, he pulled it off and it’s indeed special to get to witness that.
i’m glad wamiqa gabbi got a few moments to shine in this, even rajpal yadav- who in his three-decade long career has never done a role like this and he did it complete justice. keerthy…
