Recommendation by: yaz🪄
✨She got cheated on, zapped by aliens, and came back as a 50-foot QUEEN ready to crush her two-timing husband—literally. 💅 The runtime is blissfully short, like they knew we were only here for the chaos. Sure, the special effects are more “high school art project” than “Hollywood magic,” but it’s 1958—practical effects were still figuring things out. Respect. 🙌
👠 Watching her storm through town like she’s on the ultimate revenge tour is chef’s kiss. You can almost hear Lizzo’s “Good as Hell” playing in the background. Is it campy? Absolutely. Is it iconic? Also yes. Moral of the story: If life hands you a cheating spouse and alien radiation... level up. 🚀🔥
Recommend me a horror! 🔪

You cannot contain us, so you destroy us, and you warp our perceptions until we destroy each other. Well, bite me, because I'm 50 feet tall and have been shorn of the shackles of wealth and beauty and romance. All I want is to taste the power you've denied me for so long, and then hell with it, let's explode in electric fire.

All the people in the dance will agree
That we're well-qualified to represent the L.B.C.
Me, me and Louie, we gonna run to the party
And dance to the rhythm, it gets harder

Nancy Archer sure is a whole lotta woman.
Unfortunately the film doesn't live up to the sensational poster, though the girl-power theme is kinda epic... "Cheat on me and I'll stand up tall and stamp on you like a roach!"
A cult classic, and the very definition of so bad it's good, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman is 50's sci-fi personified.

"It's Mrs. Archer! She's on a rampage! We've got to warn the town!"
For a movie titled Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, there's not nearly enough attack, or 50 foot woman.
"She finally got Harry all to herself."
-
"I can’t shoot a woman!"
Fear of female empowerment.
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman is three different movies haphazardly strung together in a way which almost makes sense at a narrative level but falls apart thematically. The movie you’d expect from the title is the last of the three (a giant monstrous woman wreaking havoc on society), and what’s particularly strange about the way we get there is that the first is actually on the woman’s side in a way I hoped for but never expected.
The story opens as a fairly traditional romantic drama: a man and a woman have been married for a while, but the man cheats with other women and expects his wife to put…

there are some great metaphors here for the 1950’s notorious oppression and mistreatment of women, but they’re sadly buried underneath a mound of misogyny that not even nancy’s giant paper mache hand could unearth.

The final five minutes where the giant woman actually goes on her rampage are pretty dope. The preceding hour where her skeezy husband and some floozy fool around and plan her demise is entertaining, but also kind of a drag.

"Attack of the 50 FT. Woman" is a 1958 Atomic Age science fiction film directed by Nathan Juran. Easily a film filled with cult status and novelty, "Attack of the 50 FT. Woman" is really only a quick, barely over an hour film that only has a spattering of excitable moments intermixed with a bunch of dialogue. Still, while the film's plot something that is at least serviceable in its efforts, it is the mythos, allure, and style of "Attack of the 50 FT. Woman" that has pushed it forward in popularity. Frankly, an easy term enough to use is "cool" simple enough, as we easily see at surface value from the Pulp laden film poster. This iconic image on…
