The greatest thing about 12th Fail is that, despite its extremely formal style, neither the story nor the characters' world ever seem artificial; instead, the characters' struggles, feelings, and the world they live in are all palpably real, and you genuinely feel sorry for them when they experience both successes and setbacks. The performance, writing, directing, story structure, cinematography, editing, sound design, score, and character work all come together masterfully to create a profoundly affecting, reflective, and poignant portrait of hopes and dreams.
The film's inspiring message revolves around the importance of motivation, the strength of true friends, and having a life partner who sticks by you through good times and bad.
I haven't given such a high rating to any hindi movie since "Andhadhun" which was released in 2018.
