One heartwarming journey that showcases the spirited resilience within one self. This biographical underdog drama gets brilliantly written and directed, while managing to stay as positive, inspirational and full of heart. Though not without its cliches, the highly impactful emotional core, hard hitting dialogues and sincere performances easily overshadow those minor bumps. The narrative moves you many a times, especially the final 20 minutes leave you with moist eyes. Vikrant Massey was just fantastic. He resonates and makes you root for with an effortless ease. '12th Fail' by Vidhu Vinod Chopra is a cinematic masterpiece that I believe might just be the best movie to come out of Bollywood in the last decade. This heartfelt biopic left a profound impact on my soul. The writing, directing, and acting are nothing short of genius.
It has everything you need in a movie, a bit of everything. The lead character's journey is so compelling that you can't help but root for him through his failures and celebrate his success. Vidhu Vinod Chopra deserves all the applause for bringing this gem to the screen.

Never have I ever seen any movie in Indian Cinema or world cinema with such a sublime hold on Sound with Cinematography. Yes, I just said a powerful statement, and I just said world cinema, too, and this is all for the combination of Sound and cinematography. there's usually a stereotype among the fans of cinema that no one wants to watch films based on honest protagonists, they rather want them to be grey and dark. Only a few can make this formula of making stories about morality work among people, and that too with so much conviction. Like there's not a even single moment where you want to look away. The performance, writing, directing, story structure, cinematography, editing, sound design, score, and character work all come together masterfully to create a profoundly affecting, reflective, and poignant portrait of hopes and dreams.

I haven't given such a high rating to any hindi movie since "Andhadhun" which was released in 2018.
