Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...

Didn’t know that Jamie Foxx was a stand-up comedian (I liked his impressions) and also didn’t know that he’s quite religious. At first, I thought this was a little self serving. Came off as someone seeking love and applause for taking us through his pain and making it about me me me. While parts of this special do in fact feel that way, it did become rather poignant. Foxx explains what had happened to him, but what affected me more…

Lost count of how many Beatles documentaries there are on Disney+ and now Martin Scorsese joins the party.

Wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of The Beatles, but it was cool to see some pretty incredible footage of such a fond memory for so many. Some of which who lived through the band’s first trip to America are interviewed. Lots captured, from girls trying to find the boys’ hotel room to other girls who tried to get them to sign…

"You promised me the drive. Not the win."

God damn. This was my most anticipated film of 2019 and it delivered on all fronts and then some. Christian Bale has always been my favourite actor and I'm not kidding you one bit in saying that this has become my favourite performance and perhaps movie with him. James Mangold has crafted such a well made movie that feels big, epic and yet, it didn't lose any intimacy or heart.

John Preston and John Wick would totally be best friends. I mean, they both underwent life altering events due to a puppy.

Christian Bale makes this 10x better. I just find it insanely watchable seeing his character gradually feel emotion while undergoing an internal conflict. It's best not to take this too seriously. It's a slice of early 2000s dystopian cheesy sci-fi goodness and it knows it. If this got a higher budget, a bigger studio behind it and a more prominent director, this could've been on the level of other beloved sci-fi movies.
