Ethan Burleson †’s review published on Letterboxd:
Dreamworks is by far the best animation studio working today. I felt joy, sadness, and empathy for each character in this film. Just the Dreamworks intro with all of the different franchises got me a little teary-eyed as I reflected on all the movies I grew up on.
I think the best word to describe this experience was peace. I could hear the importance of family echo through the entire film. The robot and all of the creatures in the wild desired family. Fitting in and belonging is something that we all want. The writers took our feelings and projected it onto cute little animals. Really, this movie is about us and what we really want.
I look back and realize that Christ is the answer to this longing. We can have an actual family where we belong in Christ. He is able to fill that hole that desperately needs love. We only need to trust Him and fully Him forever. I hope this review reaches you, God bless.
