M. Night Shyamalan has always been a hit or miss director for me, he can make some good stuff from time to time but usually he relies on mediocre supernatural stories with terrible writing. The Sixth Sense does have some of that weird stuff that I’m not too big on but at least here there’s a more human element to the plot that makes all of its surprising elements still effective. Also, for a PG-13 it can get surprisingly intense and dark at places, which is what I want more of out of him and supernatural thriller films as a whole.
And for the twist? Well, I saw it coming from a mile away so it wasn’t as shocking to me as what others may of thought, but at least there’s a build up to it to the point where I can say “that was deserved”.
Overall, good Shyamalan film. It’s not amazing but it you want to kill off an hour and 40 minutes, this will do the job.
