OKAY so I realized just now that every single New Year’s Eve since the creation of my Letterboxd profile, I watch a movie with some pedophilic theme or character. 2022 was The End of Evangelion, 2023 was May December, and now in the year of our lord 2024, we have Happiness. I have no idea why this is always happening but fuck it, I guess this is a yearly tradition now.
And what the fuck. Happiness is a film in which I can’t possibly really talk about it without spoiling, and while I can do that, I think most of your enjoyment from this film is if you don’t know anything about it at all. It’s a fucked up film with a twisted as hell sense of humor, and you’ll laugh, you’ll cringe, and you’ll definitely feel miserable by the end of it. One of the most uncomfortable but funniest films you may ever see, and even if it’s disturbing and deserving of that NC-17 rating, you may want to see it again. Not for a while though!
