Evan Strandberg 🍉🕊️’s review published on Letterboxd:
an unsettling, compelling, and immersive slow burn psychological thriller/crime procedural that is perkins’ most visceral work to date. is it the scariest movie ever? no. does the film excel in delivering unrelenting dread throughout its runtime? absolutely.
the film has an impeccable sound design and stunning visual style, which carry much of the weight alone. every frame is meticulously crafted, perkins’ direction masterful.
i’m going to refrain from talking about maika monroe and nicholas cage’s performances because it’s better going in with minimal knowledge. all i will say is that they each brought their a-game, along with alicia witt and blair underwood.
