I was initially disappointed by the narrative, because of how "incomplete" each segment felt. But when I saw Jun Lana's explanation -- that the narrative was structured like a eulogy, hence the episodic nature -- it made more sense. What we're seeing are fragments of memories of a person, of Trisha. For me, it's less of a conventional narrative and more of a character study. It works better that way.
Paolo Ballesteros is the most beautiful human being I've ever seen. Christian Bables deserves the world.
This world would be a better place if only we all had our own Barbs.

*cate blanchett and rooney mara take turns punching it 100 times*
*sarah paulson scatters some cigarette ash onto the remains of the beaten and bloodied organ*

dear god, i hope these people never think of having my country's clothing as the theme for their gala.
i do admire andrew bolton and the earnest care and attention with which he created the exhibit. but watching him whitesplain mao to wong kar-wai, or anna complaining about that chinese reporter who "wanted to politicize it too much", was a bit painful.
also painful was seeing all these celebrities with barely anything chinese on their obscenely expensive outfits, and attending…

Disappointing, but I urge you to see it anyway. God knows we need more films like this.
Top 3 highlights:
• The maruya scene. Erlinda Villalobos is amazing in that one tiny scene. Steals the film from the crazy cast of A-listers this film somehow wrangled.
