Despite releasing the evil, Eric deserves a prize for being the mvp of endurance.
More graphic than ever before with all its budgetary and technological advances (tho there's still something eerily gruesome from the first one that's hard to match), with some neat new ideas, like the abstinence plot point, which is a clever twist to keep the characters on the cabin, yet overall it feels a bit more dumbed down. While the relationship between the two Brothers, Mia and David, is nicely fleshed out, everything else is simplified, which kinda brings it down in comparison to the original and on its own because some of its averageness gets assented.
Overall, 2013 Evil Dead is not outstanding, but it is wild and good, enough to live up to its name and be legitimately one of the best horror remakes to come out from that 2000's and early 2010's wave of remakes.
