Let's talk home improvement for a minute here. To be more specific, home improvement television. Ever watched one of those shows? There is always one episode where some city dwelling couple wants to go rural and buy a farm. They often have too much money and end up buying a gorgeous historical building. But they are used to all the modern commodities and luxury which unfortunately isn't present there. They then proceed to gut the building, remodel and refit it so it will suit their needs and in the end will look like a house everyone else has. With, of course, the occasional exposed beam here or there, because, hey! it's a period property don't you know? And we should never ever forget that.
This film is that episode.
This isn't a remake. It is a generalization. It takes an iconic horror film and turns it into a cheap knock off like so many others that very same horror film has spawned. It lacks originality, energy, appeal and creativity.
