The attempt is interesting and nostalgically involving. The loyalty to the spirit of the way to tell a story, the nature of the original characters and the physiognomy and interaction of the kids is vividly present, but without the same intellectual depth and the jazzy artistry of the animated shorts and movies of the sixties, let alone of Schulz’s original drawn work. The blend of stop-motion with 3D animation effects, however, oozes beauty and respect to what I find to be the most interesting American classic animated series thanks to the remarkable work that my compatriot Bill Melendez (who also shares my last name =D) did in the past. It’s a good tribute with the adventurous innocence and the nostalgic suburbs devoid of adult figures but lacks the psychological depth that characterized the series so notoriously, not to mention a modernized soundtrack that is quite ambivalent to what the original creators intended in an attempt to musically modernize classic characters for the millennial generation.
