There’s something about holding on to the past, both mentally and perhaps physically, that is both haunting and reassuring. Maybe the past propels someone forward just as much as it holds them back.
A beautiful movie, using the conventions of film form to push viewers into the past as much as the characters define their lives around it. Josh O’Connor is brilliant here.
